As well as working in the college’s animal management unit you will also get the opportunity to go on work placements. Previous students have gone on placements at local wildlife centres, vets, pet shops and kennels. This is a great opportunity to put what you have learnt into practice.

During the course you will get the opportunity to go on a range of visits – both day trips and residential trips - which are held at the end of each term. You will get plenty of notice of these visits and trips so that you save for them, although we try and keep them as cheap as possible.

Before you begin your course, you’ll need to make sure you’re prepared with the right equipment. Many of our courses need specialist health and safety clothing, but we’ve made it simple - some of your essentials and college branded clothing can be bought from our online shop.

For your course, you will need:

  • Folder with dividers to organise your work and assignments
  • Stationery including notepad for use in class, pens and pencils
  • USB pen drive (for saving your work)
  • College-branded white laboratory coat (unless otherwise informed)

  • College-branded blue kennel coat
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) – including steel toe capped footwear (boots, shoes, or wellies)
